So you may have seen me and many other people Flip a kettlebell. If you are like us, from the first time that you saw that Bell flying through the air, you wanted to be able to do it…one day.
To be honest, if you haven’t given it a try, it is much easier than you may think. As long as you OWN your kettlebell swing, you will find that it will become a natural progression with your proper kettlebell swing practice.
What we wanted to bring across with this free tutorial was the fact that anyone can enjoy advanced kettlebell play as long as they spend the time on their Fundamentals.
Here are 5 Quick Reasons Why You Should Add Kettlebell Flipping to Your Practice:
1:) It builds attributes like coordination, better breathing, timing, force control, tension control, mid-foot drive, sensitivity and much more. So if you are a Martial Artist, Sport Specific Athlete, Runner, First Responder.. Are these Attributes that you can use?
2.) Kettlebell Flipping can also be a Great Coach! It will “Teach” you where you are leaking in your form and technique.
-Is your mobility and flexibility where it needs to be in order to get your hips back?
-Do you have the “cardio” to sustain your regular workouts utilizing the Kettlebell Flip?
-Is you kettlebell swing as “dialed-in” as you think that it is?
-Do I have enough confidence in my kettlebell practice to even attempt the Flip or do I need to Swing more?
3.) It Gets you Outside!! Most people, including myself, prefer to work on Flipping and other catch and release drills outdoors for obvious reasons. We always seem to have an excuse to get trapped indoors; Here is a Great one to get OUT! ;-)
4:) More Swing Repetitions! We sometimes have trouble working on the Fundamentals. Well, the Swing is as fundamental as it comes. The more that we Flip, the more that we Swing…without even paying attention to the fat that We Are Swinging!
5:) It’s FUN! Let’s face it, after you have Flipped your first kettlebell…It’s Addicting because it is FUN! When things become and remain FUN, we tend to do them more. Nothing revolutionary, I think that we can all agree to that fact. :-)
